Historic District

Santa Rosa's historic downtown district offers a relaxing plaza environment for local citizens as well as inquisitive travelers.  Historic landmarks include the Guadalupe County Courthouse, the Pecos Theater which holds the national distinction as the longest continuous operation of a movie theater on Route 66.  Equally impressive sandstone structures include the Ilfeld Warehouse, soon to be renovated as a Visitor Center and business center, and the original historic 1st National Bank - now the Lake City Diner.

The Diner is one of 3 restaurants close by in the downtown.  There is a general store, 2 clothing stores, a grocery store, a flower and gift shop, 2 video stores, 3 hair salons and family barber shops, a fitness center, the local newspaper office, post office, city and county offices, and the community college are located in the downtown, as well at two financial institutions with ATM service, a gazebo and public restrooms.

Dominating the downtown streetscape is the Historic 1909 Guadalupe County Courthouse, an impressive sandstone structure.  The historic courthouse was restored to mark Guadalupe County's Centennial in 2009.  Visitors are welcome during business hours which are 8 to 5 Monday through Friday.
